Seriously every Christmas a child is severely mauled by a pit bull. Many families are visiting relatives that may have dangerous dogs in the home or neighborhood, beware that visiting children are at increased risk..
Christmas is a big time of year for adopting pets and what a special gift it can be. Remember when choosing a pet always choose safely and never ignore breed danger when choosing a dog. Some children have been mauled by a pit bull they received as a Christmas present. Breed is the only common in severe and fatal attacks not training or any of the other excuses used by the pit bull lobby.

A bite is not what makes a dog dangerous "all dogs bite". It is their capability to severely maul and kill that makes them dangerous. On average so far this year in the U.S. someone has been killed by a pit bull every 14 days. Many of these dogs were well trained and had never shown signs of aggression before. Some pit bull advocates like to jump on the Atts test and fly the pit bulls good temperament. What these people do not understand is that this only adds to the danger of the breed. Misplaced trust based on good temperament has been a factor in many fatal attacks. Some pit bulls have passed more than one temperament test only to later kill a child in their own family. Pit Bull owners like to say how sweet their pit bull is and one of the most common statements after a fatal attack is the dog had never shown any signs of aggression before. Deception is a good trait for any killer.

What will it take for the pit bull and rescue advocacy to face the danger they create for the public as well as for themselves. Another pit bull rescuer suffers the loss of life due to dog attack . Rita Woodard was loved and respected by he...r fellow advocates and rescuers according to the posts on her face book page. It is clear by looking at her page is she was heavy into pit bull rescue and pit bull advocacy.
Im sending my prayers of healing for Rita's family and Im also praying something will be learned from the loss of her life so other families may not have to suffer the same. As pit bull rescuers and their advocates continue to suffer severe mauling where limbs are taken and lives are lost I ask all who advocate for this breed how long will you choose to turn a blind eye.
As Christmas nears the pit bull rescue ramps up to place as many pit bulls under Christmas trees as they can, with little care for the safety of your family. Never choose a dangerous breed.

So far this year in a span of just 91 days there has been 14 dog attack related fatalities. This averages out to be a fatal dog attack every 6.5 days . Twice as... often as last year. If you count the Bullmastiff as a pit bull type since they are 40% fighting breed that means 12 of the 14 fatalities have been a result of the pit bull type dog. A pit bull attack has led to the death of a 4-year-old in Houma

A pit bull attack has led to the death of a 4-year-old in Houma, Louisiana. It happened inside an apartment complex where the family lives. Apparently the mother and daughter were watching TV when the dog suddenly attacked without warnin...g. Houma Police Chief Todd Duplantis said the mother finally got to a bedroom where she barricaded herself along with her little girl. She screamed for help and was able to hand her daughter through a window to medical personnel but the child later died at the hospital.

Mia Derouen, suffered facial, torso and head injuries in the attack and her mom, and owner of the dog, also suffered moderate injuries and was hospitalized.

Duplantis said the dog was running inside the apartment in a very vicious manner and the officers had to shot and kill the dog to eliminate the threat of additional injuries.

The family had two pit bulls, and one was more than 100 pounds. The larger one attacked the little girl but the police chief there's never been any complaints about the dog from neighbors. He went on to say there were no signs of animal abuse or that the dogs were being trained to fight.

That is 81% of fatal attacks caused by this type of dog and pit types only account for about 7% of the dog population. These 11 fatalities happened in a span of 67 days . If you count the 40% fighting breed bull mastiff as a pit bull type that means 9 of the 11 fatalities were caused by pit bull type dogs. I will always be only 10 years old because of me getting killed by the dogs. See..my friend lives down the street and he has 2 dogs that we play with all the time...they are pit bulls...but they love me and I love 'em back! One day, after school... I grabbed my skateboard and took off to see my friend. I was riding by his house and the dogs were trying to come play with me I guess...they busted through the fence gate. Next I was knocked off my skateboard..Hard! Then I just remember they were all over me on that quiet oil top road where no one could hear me screaming. My neck! My chest! They are killing me...and I am only 10 years old! I think I went to sleep for a little while, 'cause when I woke up they were dragging me into the woods...I am so cold. Then one of our neighbors grabbed my skateboard and was hitting the dogs...they ran away. She picked my head and shoulders up in her arms and she was crying...did they hurt her too? There is a lot of blood on her! I saw her eyes and that's the last thing I saw...but...I'm only 10 years old!!! I'm supposed to see a lot more stuff!! My proms, graduation, my bride, my kid's....but my life slowly fades from me...and I'm only 10 years old...I didn't even live long enough to get that football uniform...I thought those dogs were my friends...what did I ever do to them? Well...I need to go now, I have to watch over my Mom and Dad and sister...oh no.. they are crying again...I have a big job to do, watching over them. I don't mind...but I am only 10 years old!

A woman died from an apparent dog attack Sunday morning in a southeast Houston neighborhood, police said.
Three victims were attacked around 2 a.m. ...on Glen Prairie near Leonora by at least two female pit bulls, according to authorities. The dogs are estimated to be about 1-year-old and 30 pounds, according to the City of Houston Animal Control manager.
A woman in her 40s, who was homeless and often seen in the neighborhood, died at the scene of multiple wounds, police and witnesses said.
A second victim is being treated at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital. A third person suffered minor injuries.
That man, 21-year-old Osby Pineles, who lives in the neighborhood, said the woman was already dead and a dog appeared to be eating her when he approached the body to try to get the dog away.See More

This is a comment on tonight's story about Mrs. Kappan in Hot Springs Arkansas who was mauled to death by a Bull Mastiff Pit Bull Type Pit bull type Dog.

This is from the aunt of the child killed in Jessieville, just a few months earlier by the litter ...mate of the dog that killed Mrs.Kappan.

"Jamie Kapella Charlie (Ayden Evans) , the FOUR-YEAR-OLD that was killed was my dear nephew. He was in the living room and threw a tantrum because he was told to put his shoes on before he could go outside.

The dog was in the back bedroom, heard him crying, came out and attacked him.
KILLING HIM. The dogs are half Pit, half Mastiff and both dogs are indeed litter mates.

The worst thing now is that there were TEN more of this litter that were placed in other homes.

Please talk about things you know people. This has torn my family apart and there is NO question that everyone has a social responsibility to ensure the safety of those around us."

Ayden Evans, 5-years old, was mauled to death by a bullmastiff-mix. The boy lived in Oklahoma, but was staying at his aunt's house in Arkansas for the summer. Ayden was visiting his aunt's neighbor, Lynne Geiling, when her dog attacked him.

The animal came from another room and attacked the boy when Ayden became upset and started crying. Geiling was unable to separate the two until her husband arrived to help. The boy died on the way to the hospital from blood loss relating to head and neck injuries. The boy's body was released to a funeral home in Hot Springs before his parents arrived from Oklahoma.

They took their son's body back home in an urn. After the attack, the dog fled the home. The escaped dog was found and shot by a neighbor the next day. After examining the dog, Hot Springs Animal Control said the dog "was at least 50 percent pit bull." As of June 28, 2013, the investigation into the boy's death is still open.
