Lets just say Im looking for a family dog

Lets just say Im looking for a family dog for the sake of making a point . I do a little search and find a pro pit page saying its all how You raise them. Pit bulls are Nanny dogs . Then I pick up the news paper and I see Pit Bull Kills toddler. So I decide to do a little more research and I find dogsbite.org . There I see clearly with links to support the facts that the pit bull type dog was responsible for 61% of all fatal dog mauling last year in the U.S. and the rottweiler was a distant 2nd at 8%.. So now I asked with facts in hand how would a parent choose a breed/type of dog that kills and mauls more than all other breeds combined to trust with My loved ones ?
